Dear Parents and Carers
We are disappointed that we have had to cancel our annual Celebration Night due to Monday’s extreme weather conditions. We have not taken this decision lightly.
Being an outdoor and staged event, the running of Celebration Night is dependent on safe weather conditions as we have no indoor venue to hold such a large community event. Prior to making this decision, several factors were taken into consideration.
Firstly, the forecast daytime temperatures above 35 degrees and an extreme UV index rating for Monday have prevented us from running a full rehearsal during the school day. We are unable to take students out in these conditions for a 60 minute rehearsal.
The sound technician we regularly use was reluctant to set up equipment from 3.00pm, in high temperatures and windy conditions, along with the potential of light rain and thunderstorms.
Due to many other factors throughout the school week, including Year 7 Graduation, we are unable to reschedule an evening performance.
However, we are planning a modified performance on Friday morning commencing at 9.15am on the oval. There will be a short daytime rehearsal on Wednesday morning for all classes.
We ask that students wear their performance costumes to school on Friday.
After the Friday morning performance, students will have a short recess break, followed by our end of year assembly at 10.50am in the school hall.
Parents, carers and families are invited to attend the Friday morning performance and are welcome to join us for the end of year whole school assembly in the school hall. We acknowledge and understand that attendance for many families at this time may be difficult.
We thank parents and carers for their understanding and support for this rescheduled community event.
Please note – student dismissal is at 12.30pm on Friday.
