Auskick and Junior Football at Craigburn in 2016

Auskick

Over the last few years, Craigburn has run an Auskick Centre on Sunday mornings by school parents. Auskick has been highly supported, professionally run and enjoyed by many participating children and families.

In 2016 we are looking for a new Auskick coordinator for Craigburn. Note, that the minimum time requirement for an Auskick Centre is 6 weeks. This means that the centre can be run at any time over Terms 2 and 3 for this minimum period of time.

If you are interested in volunteering for this coordinator role – please contact Mike Hanna, Year 4 teacher, via the front office, who has been successfully facilitating the program at Craigburn over many years.

Junior Footy at Craigburn

We believe that there are a number of families who are interested in forming a junior school football team at Craigburn, possibly in the Year 2/3 division as part of the West Adelaide Junior Football Club’s junior football competition run on Saturday mornings.

Craigburn has previously fielded teams in all age divisions, however the interest dropped off as families began joining local community clubs in the mid-2000s.

The Year 2/3 school competition is a 9-aside game, the 4/5 school competition being 12-aside. Other schools that participate in this Saturday morning league are: Westbourne Park, St John the Baptist, St Anthonys, Goodwood PS, Blackforest PS, Colonel Light Gardens PS, Plympton PS, Flagstaff Hill PS, Cowandilla PS and Torrensville.

For school football to run, we require a football coordinator, to work through our school’s sports committee and also act as a delegate to the West Adelaide Junior Football Program. Sports coordinators are fully supported by the school in their role and responsibilities. Similarly, coaches and team managers are required, both roles are fully supported with opportunities to participate in accredited coaching courses.

We also require a minimum of 9 students in the Year 2/3 division and 12 in the Year 4/5 division for teams to be nominated.

If you are interested in your child participating in either a potential Year 2/3 or 4/5 school football team, then please register your interest via the link below. Please also indicate the level of support you are able to provide.
