The Weekly Wrap

To Note

  • Many thanks to the parent helpers on School Photos Day last Tuesday, the day ran smoothly.  Reminder, Photo Make Up Day is scheduled for Thursday 15th August for those students who were absent from school last week. A whole school photo will also be taken in the morning.
  • Book Week is not far away and we look forward to our annual dress up day on Friday 23rd August. This year’s theme is ‘Reading is My Secret Power.’  Always a great day as the students and staff dress up in the spirit of Book Week. We are also pleased to confirm that South Australian children’s author Jane Jolly, will be our guest author for this year’s incursion. Jane is booked to be at Craigburn on 3rd, 4th and 10th of September, working across all year levels. Further details to come.
  • Last Tuesday we warmly welcomed our Korean students to Craigburn Primary School. We really appreciate your enthusiasm for welcoming the Korean students and helping to make their stay in Australia memorable.  Many thanks to Nicky Taylor (Senior Leader) who has been coordinating the program in liaison with the department’s International Education team and also supporting families. This Tuesday the students are visiting the Adelaide City Centre, to see the sights along North Terrace, including the Adelaide University, South Australian Museum, Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Central Market and ChinaTown.
  • A shout-out to our Sapsasa boys Netball team who are now through to the state semi-finals. Craigburn has a proud history in boys netball having been the state Sapsasa champions on three occasions. Good luck!
  • Year 6/7 students continue with their visits to the Space School at Hamilton Secondary College – participating in the Mission to Mars program.
  • Lost property is continuing to build up again – please check for any items that may have been misplaced.
  • Please note a change in date for the Year 5/6/7 assembly to Friday 23/8 (from 16/8) – apologies for any inconvenience.

Reminders

  • School Closure (Royal Adelaide Show) – Friday 30th August
  • Student Free Day – Monday 2nd September
  • To support our planning for 2020, we would like students / families who will be not at Craigburn in 2020 to contact the school via phone 8270 4144 or email dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au This does not include any current Year 7 students. Thank you.
  • 2020 Reception Enrolments / Transition – Families that have a sibling enrolment for 2020 will receive a transition letter in the Term 3, which will outline information for transition visits, which will occur over three consecutive Wednesdays 13th, 20th and 27th of November.
  • Excursions / Camps Update – As per the recent post we have recently reviewed our excursions and camps consent forms to align with departmental procedures and are unable to continue offering the signing facility through the Qkr! App for consent. However, payment can still easily be made through the Qkr! App. Parents/Caregivers will be required to complete and sign the yellow consent form after having carefully read the information.  Forms are then to be returned to the school. Any consent forms that have been submitted via Qkr! prior to Monday 29th July, 2019 will still be accepted. Students will not be able to attend any excursions/camps where a yellow consent form has not been returned to the school.

Best wishes to all for the week ahead.

Regards, Paul, Rob and Nicky
