The Weekly Wrap – Term 2 Week 2 – 2020

Dear Families

It was rewarding to reconnect with students and families last week after so much uncertainty leading into the school holidays and in anticipation of what Term 2 might look like. With continued zero COVID-19 cases in South Australia, we are slowly transitioning back to face to face teaching.

Heading into Week 2, we are expecting attendance to be around 90% of students learning at school, with continued support for those students learning at home. We understand that all students and families would love to be fully back at school, however for good reasons this cannot be the case for some students until the COVID-19 situation lessens.

Thank you to the many parents who have given feedback re their child/ren’s engagement with the remote learning program. We have seen lots of creative examples of student learning submitted to teachers via Seesaw – one such example being students uploading videos of home-made fitness / obstacle courses as part of their daily remote learning PE lesson.

Again, thank you to everyone for your ongoing support and reading through these updates and completing surveys. As mentioned in the last update, we are planning for a staged return to normal school operations based on advice from the Chief Public Health Officer and state government. Though, we expect many of these operations and procedures to be revised and / or adjusted due to the evolving nature of COVID-19.

Typically, at this time of the school year, we would be sharing information and news about events, activities and programs such as: assemblies, swimming week, school sports, Sapsasa, Pedal Prix, NAPLAN, school competitions, camps, excursions, performing arts and much more. Hopefully, as restrictions are eased, we will be able to reintroduce some of these activities.

For the meantime, we continue to ask parents / carers to adhere to our current social distancing measures in an effort to strengthen the safety for everyone. This specifically involves:

  • Remaining off the school grounds unless dropping off / collecting your child/ren from class. Only one member of each family at a time please. Other family members remain outside of the school grounds.
  • Exiting the school promptly after morning drop off and at the end of the day – please do not use the playgrounds.
  • Not entering classrooms.
  • Practising the 1.5m social distancing measure at all times.
  • Students entering / exiting the school grounds independently where possible.

Another friendly reminder – students who are unwell must remain at home. Parents / carers of children at school who are unwell will be contacted and asked to collect them as soon as possible. Students should not return to school until they are well and symptom free.

We continue with current hygiene practices including regular hand washing. Additional cleaning is in place as per department requirements. Hand sanitiser is available in all learning areas and office spaces.

Once again, we thank you for your ongoing support and care. Let’s hope we continue with zero COVID-19 cases this week.

Kind regards

Paul, Rob and Nicky
