The Weekly Wrap – Term 2 Week 4 – 2020

Dear Families

We have reached the stage where almost all students have returned to school. We continue to provide support for those students and families, who for good reason are unable to attend. We have appreciated the excellent level of support provided by parents and carers whilst children were learning at home. Thank you.

We have also appreciated your ongoing support in managing the restricted access to our school grounds and buildings. We again ask you to continue with these social distancing practices.

Unless the COVID-19 situation changes dramatically in South Australia, we will begin to welcome external service providers and instrumental music teachers back to school from the start of Week 5. Following this, and pending advice from the Department and Chief Public Health Officer, we will consider other adult groups including parent volunteers.

We continue to maintain and follow recommended cleaning and hygiene practices across the school. On a whole, the students have been very responsible and sensible with hand washing practices.

As previously mentioned, with the winter cold and flu season on our doorstep, we ask parents / carers of children who are unwell to keep them at home. Parents / carers of students who are unwell at school will be contacted and asked to collect them as soon as possible. Students should not return to school until they are well and symptom free.

South Australian schools will soon be issued with non-contact infrared thermometers (NCIT) to be used as part of the assessment when a child appears unwell at school. We have been advised that parent or guardian consent will not be needed to take a child’s temperature using a non-contact thermometer where they appear unwell. Specific procedures have been outlined for staff who are designated first aiders. SA Health has advised that there is no benefit in universal testing of every child attending school.

At this time of the school year we celebrate National Volunteer Week. Whilst we are currently unable to have parent volunteers working with us at school due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we want to express our gratitude to all parents and friends who volunteer and support our school in so many ways. Thank you.

Best wishes to all for the week ahead.

Kind regards

Paul, Rob and Nicky.
