Kangaroo Visits Craigburn Sports Expo

The most amazing thing happened during our Sports Expo today. A kangaroo came hopping onto the oval! We all stood there watching in amazement. It was a large kangaroo and it stayed on the oval for quite awhile, until it hopped across the road into someone’s yard. It made a fun day even better!

The Sports Expo involved the classes in the Junior Primary participating in a variety of sports presented to the children by a group of wonderful instructors. The sports were: Soccer, Taikwondo, Cricket, Wheelchair Sports, Basketball, Athletics as well as using a HUGE Earth Ball.

Many thanks to the great instructors who have given their time all week to provide the students at Craigburn Primary School with an introduction to some fantastic sports. Room 4 would also like to say a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Pettman for organising a wonderful week for everyone.

Little Red Riding Hood

We were very fortunate to be able to see Roald Dahl’s version of Little Red Riding Hood at Her Majesty’s Theatre. There were many schools who also had the opportunity to hear some people from The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra perform for us. We had listened to many versions of the story before going, including Roald Dahl’s, so we knew what to expect. The music was fantastic and so were the three actors! They made us laugh a lot. It was amazing to see the story being told in such a fun way.

We uploaded our photos into SmileBox. We also added a video using an app called Sonic Pics. Screen Shot 2013-11-04 at 4.48.05 PM

Sonic Pics is easy to use. You can add photos and record your voice.

A Special Visitor

We had a lovely surprise in our class today. Eliza the lamb came for a visit! Eliza belongs to Alana and her family. They are looking after her because Eliza’s mum died. We watched while Alana fed her from a special bottle and she hungrily gobbled up some special pellets. We got to pat Eliza. She was very soft as she doesn’t have wool but rather fur. Eliza is the kind of sheep the doesn’t need shearing. When it was time for her to go home she happily trotted off on her lead. It was lovely to see her this morning. Many thanks to Alana and her family for bringing her to school!

Book Characters

This week our Show and Tell topic was to prepare clues about a story book character and have the class guess who we were. We could dress up as that character if we wanted to. It was wonderful to see so many characters and we really enjoyed guessing who they were!

Here is a Smilebox showing our characters and at the end of the presentation you will hear us telling you who we were.

Snowman Monday

We had such a fun day today! It has been very cold here in Adelaide recently. We have even had small amounts of snow fall on the Adelaide Hills. So we thought it was a great opportunity to do some fun learning activities based around a snowman.

Mrs Nelson has a HUGE snowman that she got from Canada and she put it up in her room. It was really big!
Until lunch time we had a list of activities we had to work through. They involved Art, Craft, Maths, Puzzles, Writing and Comprehension. We could choose the order we did them in but they all had to be completed.
We were very busy for a long time working by ourselves at times and with our friends at others.
We all LOVED making an edible snowman!
Here is the list of activities we did today.
