We Are Elves

Well, it’s that time of year when Father Christmas needs all the help he can get. We decided to get organised and become elves. We think you will find this quite funny!
Can you see yourself?

Warning! They will all load at the same time so you will have to quickly pause them until you are ready.

Many thanks to Officemax for offering this!

Get Well Cards

It was just lovely this afternoon to go to my letterbox and see it full of get well cards from my students!

It made my day. Thank you to everyone in Room 4 for your beautiful cards.

I will see you very soon in Term 4.

It's Raining, It's Pouring!

Wow, what an amazing sight awaited us when we looked out our classroom door this afternoon. It had been raining all day and we had to stay inside at Recess and Lunchtime. After lunch it started to rain and hail and there was thunder too! The rain was particularly heavy and when we looked outside, the water was coming towards our room! Luckily the drain managed to take the water away and a plumber was able to clear the main drain.

Look at these photos and you can see how much water was around!

Luckily the water had gone by the time the children had to be picked up by the parents. Otherwise they would have had very wet feet!

Mrs. K's hopes for 2013.

The beginning of a new year is always filled with excitement, anticipation and sometimes even nerves… for the children, their parents and of course, me! I made this Storybird to share my thoughts and hopes for the 2013 school year. I hope you find time to view it, think about it and provide your feedback via a comment. Thank you. I’m looking forward to a great year. It is sure to be very exciting!

Week 4 and 5 with Miss Tonkin

Well, this is my third week at Craigburn Primary and I am loving it.  What a fantastic beginning to my teaching career!  We have been extremely busy with various activities involving the whole school – Craigburn’s Got Talent, Halloween, Gala Day, and Music is Fun.  It gives the children a wonderful opportunity to involve themselves creatively with their peers, utilise life skills outside of the classroom, whilst celebrating local events.

It has been wonderful getting to know the Year 1 students and parents of room 4.   I have appreciated the support from all the staff within the school – in particular my team teacher Ms Cave.  Everyone has been welcoming and friendly, thank you!

It was very exciting being able to share Ms Cave’s Canadian Halloween celebrations at the end of October.  Take a look at our Halloween photos; we had some very interesting characters turn up to class!

Below are some ‘happy snaps’ which capture some of the highlights from Room 4 over the last couple of weeks.  My next update will cover Sports Expo and more learning in the classroom.

How To Make A Lego Movie

Kelton and Riley were so excited about their Lego Movie that they wanted to show other children how to use it. We used another really good App called Explain Everything to demonstrate the steps necessary to make a successful movie.

Here is their lesson on how to make a Lego Movie.

In2Cricket

Today we had a visit from Tash and Craig. They are cricket players and they showed us some skills we need in order to play cricket. They are sponsored by the Milo company. Four stations were set up and we moved around the stations doing different activities as we went. If we were really clever we could score points!

It was lots of fun, even if it was really windy. We can’t wait to eat our Milo!
