We loved our tabloid events:

  • Sack race and 3 legged race
  • soccer dribble
  • sprints
  • hurdles
  • long jump
  • tunnel ball.

We joined in really well and worked hard to be a successful team. A huge thanks to Mrs Pettman for organising our day – it was amazing.

Last Friday, the 2nd of April, we held our annual Craigburn Primary School Sports Day.

It was a fantastic day and our class loved all of the events we participated in.

The day started with the teachers and SLEG students setting up every event at 7.15am!!!

Each class met in their classrooms and then we went down to the bottom courts to assemble in our house teams – Woodford, Riley, Fraser and Bradman.

Sports Day

Today we held our annual sports day. We love to participate in all the different events during our day. We had a special guest called Kris who is a triathlete. Kris talked to us about how hard athletes need to train and practise their sports to be successful. He also mentioned that he started sport at a young age – just like us! He is also a representative for the Premier’s Be Active group.

We have four house teams named after famous Australian athletes. The teams are called Fraser (green), Riley (red), Woodforde (yellow) and Bradman (blue).

Our class did the Year 2-4 events, which were:

  • hurdles
  • sprints
  • javelin/ chicken throw
  • long jump
  • relays – tunnel ball and under and over
  • bocce
  • long kick
  • Fireman’s relay – water in the bucket
  • sack race
  • 3 legged race

Our whole class had a wonderful day participating in all of the tabloid events. We tried our hardest to perform to the best of our ability and showed fair and honest sporting behaviour for the whole day.

The winning team for 2013 was Fraser!! Congratulations to the whole Fraser team.

Here are some photos of our day.

Sports Day 2012

Last Friday we had our whole school Sports Day. It was a fantastic day and we really enjoyed our day. We worked really hard to be supportive team members and gave lots of positive encouragement to our team mates.

Riley ( the red team) won Sports Day – Congratulations to the whole team!

Fraser came second, Bradman was third and Woodforde came fourth.

Our programme for the day was:

  • March onto the oval in our house teams – Fraser, Riley, Woodforde and Bradman
  • Do the Health Hustle
  • Listen to the opening speech by our Principal Mr Wait and the Premier’s Be Active Challenge special guest Paul Mildren. Paul is a pitcher with the Adelaide Bite – the Adelaide baseball team in the national competition.
  • Compete in our tabloid events
  • Recess & lunch breaks
  • Running the whole school relay – with representatives from each year level
  • Sprints – each house team is represented by their fastest runners
  • Presentation of the Championship Shield.
Tabloid Events
Vortex Throw – we had to throw a vortex up the hill as far as we could.

Bocce – each team had 1 person roll their bocce ball to see who could throw it closest to the white ball. We played bocce in the Hall.

Long jump
We ran along the green mats and pushed off into the long jump sand pit – trying to jump as far as possible.

Sprints
We ran in a series of races over 100m.

Three legged race
This relay was in pairs because we had to tie our middle legs together. We needed to work really well as a team to make sure our legs moved at the same time as our partners! It was really tricky – then we asked our parents and grandparents to have a go! It was lots of fun!

Sack race
In our house teams we got into a sack and jumped up to a marker and back to our team.

Soccer kick

We needed to kick as many soccer goals as possible.

Tunnel Ball –  each house team lined up. The first person rolled the ball under the teams open legs and the last person caught it and ran to the front of the team with it. Each person had to have a turn running to the front of the team.

Sprints
We ran in a series of races over 100m.

Relays – we ran in the Fireman’s relay and then made up lots of different relays – more running!
