Dear parents and caregivers,

We are looking forward to a busy term ahead with lots of fantastic learning opportunities for the students.

Congratulations to our students who performed as part of the school choir for the Performance Arts Showcase on Wednesday night. They did a fantastic job and should be very proud.

Here are some of the upcoming events for this term:

There will be school photo catch up session on Thursday 11th August at 2:00pm.

Book Week this year runs from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th of August with our dress up day on that Friday.

On Tuesday 16th August we have a Book Week performance called “Fair Dinkum”.  A consent form has been sent out and the last day for payment is the 10th August.

Our class will be sharing in the Year 5-7 assembly on the 26th August at 2:15pm. It would be great to see you there.

In Week 5, Monday 22nd of August our class will be going on the Living Kuarna excursion which was rescheduled from last term. A reminder of what to bring will come out closer to the time.

A consent form has gone home for the ‘Foot Steps’ program starting on the 8th of September.

The children have learnt so much about how energy works and about renewable sources of energy in our latest inquiry. They demonstrated elements of this knowledge in their sustainable energy houses. The children proudly shared their houses when the other year 4/5 classes came to have a look.

We said goodbye to Jordan last week. He had a wonderful send off and we wish him all the very best at his new school interstate!

We were very lucky to have a guest presenter from Pelican Point Power Station’s ‘Mobile Science’ education programme, come to our class as part of our Inquiry into how energy works and it’s many sustainable forms.

As you will see from the photos, the children had a rare opportunity to investigate different sources of energy using some excellent resources.

We’ve had a very hands on term, starting with our ‘Theme Park Maths’. The children had to design their dream theme park and then build a model showing length, area, volume, perimeter, capacity, mass, temperature and also provide a timetable. This was a very big ask and the children really rose to the challenge!

The children had so much fun and did such an amazing job hosting and performing for our assembly. They should be very proud!

Thank you to all the families for your support organising costumes and props and for coming to watch. They really looked the part.

Enjoying and sharing the benefits of our personal iPads. We were participating in an online scavenger hunt about Energy.

Making marble runs in technology with our buddies.

We used water, oil, food colouring and Alka Seltzer.  The children were able to record and document each step of the experiment on their iPads.

Dear parents and caregivers,

Welcome back to term two, we hope you enjoyed your holidays and Mums we hope you got very spoilt on Mother’s Day!

We have a big term coming up, starting with Naplan on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. The children are familiar with how the tests are structured and should feel relaxed and positive about the experience.

Our class is hosting the Year 5 – 7 assembly in Week 5. We have decided to present the assembly with a science theme and have been brainstorming lots of ideas for a fun show. We hope you can make it, more information will follow.
