“Nut Aware” School

Craigburn Primary School is a “Nut Aware” school. We would like to remind parents and caregivers that we work hard to ensure that all children are safe at school. We are conscious that a number of our students have the potential to have a severe allergic reaction to nuts and nut products, eg. peanut paste, nutella, etc. This could cause a serious reaction where there are breathing difficulties, a drop in blood pressure and swelling. Staff are regularly trained in ways to manage if a student should have symptoms, however, we would like to ensure prevention wherever possible. Therefore, we ask that parents refrain from sending children to school with nuts or nut products in food of any kind. Please encourage children to wash their hands before and after eating, and also encourage them not to share food. We are also aware that there are some children with other kinds of allergies, eg. bee stings, sea food, eggs, etc and each class teacher is informed of particular children and their needs.
Please support our school community to be as safe as possible and ensure children do not bring nuts to school. We are “Nut Aware”!
