Principal News – End of Term

Well done to all students and staff for your efforts over the last term – and thank you to Craigburn families for your support over this time. We hope everyone can enjoy some quality family time over the long weekend and two weeks of school holidays.

The last few days have been quite exceptional as far as weather conditions go. At school we managed to get through relatively unscathed – with minimal damage to school facilities. Thank you to families for your support and understanding as we worked through our emergency management procedures yesterday with the power outage.

Term 3 has been typically busy with many activities and programs happening across the school including: School Sport & SAPSASA events, Festival Choir, Pedal Prix, Tournament of Minds, ICAS competitions, Footsteps Dance and various other year-level and class based programs. Congratulations to all students who participated in many of these extra-curricular activities.

We enjoyed a short visit from children and staff from Flagstaff Oval Kindergarten, who joined with our Reception classes for Play on Wednesday morning.

Earlier this week we said farewell to retiring Principal, Kathy Terrell. Kathy appreciated the time and effort that went into her final day at Craigburn and will take many fond memories of students, staff and families with her.

Many of our school activities are publicly shared via our school Facebook Page and also through classroom blogs. Links to these are accessible via this news blog. Please subscribe to class blogs and like our FB Page if you have not already done so.

Next term, Grant Stevens (Year 4/5 Teacher) will be taking leave and will be replaced by Miss Jodie Fischer who will be teaching the class for the remainder of the year. We wish Mr Stevens all the best for his leave and welcome Miss Fischer to the class teaching role.

At the start of Term 4, we welcome and look forward to our new Pastoral Care Worker, Catherine Chambers, starting at Craigburn. Catherine will be working for 9 hours per week, and is replacing Amanda Eckert who is on 12 months maternity leave. We will provide further updates as to Catherine’s working hours at Craigburn.

Regards, Paul
