This term has certainly flown by and with two weeks to go there is still much happening at Craigburn.
Swimming and Aquatics
By all reports, last week’s swimming and aquatics programs for students in Years 3-7 went well. I’m sure the extra hour from the daylight saving change was well received by students and families (and staff too!). A reminder that the swimming program for students in Reception to Year 2 commences on the first day back in Term 2.
Student Led Conferences
This coming week offers the opportunity for students to share and reflect on their learning achievements and challenges with parents / caregivers through a student-led conference. I would like to recognise the efforts of our teaching staff who have been busily preparing students to take the lead by getting them to identify their strengths and learning challenges and how to best communicate these to their parents / caregivers. As a parent / caregiver, you can support your child by listening to him/her share their reflections, looking to acknowledge strengths and offer support in developing strategies for improvement.
A reminder for families to keep abreast of all future school events and programs through our school calendar.
Oval Playground and Deck
We are looking forward to the installation of our new playground equipment and the completion of the new multi-purpose deck adjacent to the Year 1 classrooms, overlooking the oval. Both of these projects are the fruition of our school community’s fundraising efforts over the last 2-3 years are due for completion over coming weeks.
Education Leaders Day
On Thursday 6th April, I will be attending the 2017 Education Leaders Day for Principals – with the conference focus on ‘building networked system leadership across sites, partnerships and central offices’. The speaker is Professor Michael Fullan O.C, the worldwide authority and prolific author on educational reform and committed to leadership in education so all children can learn. http://michaelfullan.ca/
From Friday 7th April though until the end of term, I will be on leave (5 days) – Trevor Arney will be acting principal during this time.
