Acquaintance Evening – Thanks

We were pleased to hear feedback from parents, students and staff who attended last week’s Acquaintance evening – led by students who proudly invited parent/s into their learning spaces and shared their learning programs. In preparing for and doing so, students practised and developed skills in organisation, collaboration, communication, problem solving and critical thinking – supporting them to develop confidence and a positive self esteem.

Reading Workshop

On Tuesday 19th and Wednesday, our teachers in Reception, Year 1 and 2 will be off-site participating in a two-day professional development workshop in InitiaLit. InitiaLit is an evidence-based whole-class literacy program designed to provide all children with the essential core knowledge and strong foundations to become successful readers and writers. This forms part of our commitment for a consistent approach to beginning reading instruction, which includes a focus on the Big Six of Reading -oral language, phonological awareness, letter-sound knowledge (phonics), fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Our regular relieving teachers will be covering classes over these two days.

Kind Regards,

Paul Luke – Principal        Rob Warncken – Deputy Principal        Nicky Taylor – Senior Leader
