Book Week 2020 – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds

Curious Creatures, Wild Minds

This year’s theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.’

Each year across Australia, The CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.

During this time your child will be involved in the Book Week character dress up day, attending a whole school incursion and a Book Fair.

Book Character Dress Up Day – Friday 23rd October

The Book Week character dress up day will be held on Friday 23rd of October with a whole school assembly at 9.30am to showcase student costumes.  This year’s theme, ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ is an exciting one that enables students to use their imagination by choosing to come dressed as a favourite book character or something associated with the theme.

Unfortunately, due COVID-19 social distancing restrictions we will not be able to have parents and friends attend the assembly. We will endeavour to share pics on the day via our Facebook Page.

Book Fair

Once again we are able to hold a school Book Fair where our children have the privilege to browse and select books they wish to purchase.

Book Fair will begin on Thursday 22nd of October – 27th of October.

Our Book Fair will look a little different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. The entrance to Book Fair will be via the side door of the library opposite the year one classes. There will be a desk set up outside the door with the COVID forms for parents to fill in the required information.

Due to social distancing requirements and the space allocated for Book Fair we can only allow a small number of adults in at a time – likely 20.

Students and teachers will be able visit the Book Fair in their library browse and borrow time.

Book Week Incursion Author Tony Bones – Lighthouse

We are privileged and very lucky to have been able to book Tony Bones a famous author of many books. Tony has been booked for Wednesday 21st of October and Thursday 22nd of October.

Tony was originally booked to perform live at Craigburn. Unfortunately he is unable to attend our school due to COVID and living in NSW. Due to these measures, we took up his offer for a ‘Virtual Incursion.’
