The Minister’s Volunteering Award for Outstanding Service for 2020, now in its seventh year, is awarded to a community member/s for outstanding volunteer service to the school community – as nominated by members of the Governing Council.
The recipients of the award were announced at our Annual General Meeting last Monday evening and presented to Lisa Barkham and Jane Syme.
Both Lisa and Jane have been long serving members of the governing council and school community. They retired from council duties at the end of last year, with their children now entering high school.
Over many years Lisa has supported the successful reception transition program where new children and families have experienced a positive start to primary school. This involved organising parent information sessions, tea / coffee, children / family welcome packs and much more.
Jane has been a passionate supporter of our school garden, particularly in its early stages of development, happily volunteering on Friday afternoons and attending working bees. As a result of Jane’s efforts and support, the school garden has grown to be a thriving centrepiece of the school.
Both Lisa and Jane have also volunteered in many other ways, helping out with a ranged of school activities and events such mothers / fathers day stalls, discos, quiz nights, school photos and colour fun runs.
Congratulations and thank you, Lisa and Jane.
The Minister’s Volunteering Award for Outstanding Service plaque is positioned inside the front administration area, displaying the names of past recipients.
