Early Dismissal Procedure

The Department has introduced an ‘Early Dismissal’ procedure to ensure a uniform approach is in place across government schools.

The Chief Executive has determined that early dismissal of students can be provided up to 1 hour before the normal end of the school day on the following occasions:

  • The last school day before the Easter long weekend.
  • The last school day of each school term, including the last day of the school year.

As part of this procedure, parents / carers are required to give consent for their child/ren to be dismissed early from school on the occasions listed above.

Please note:

  • Students who do not have parent / carer consent to be dismissed early will remain at school under teacher supervision until the normal dismissal time.
  • Our Out of School Hours Care Service will commence service from 2.10pm in line with the early dismissal time.

Please find attached below, the Consent Form for Early Dismissals, which will also be sent home with students.
