The Weekly Wrap – Term 3 Week 5 – 2021

We hope all families and friends enjoyed the weekend, especially with an early burst of spring weather. In this week’s wrap we ask you to take a few minutes to check in with the following information, reminders and calendar events for Term 3.

Regards – Paul, Rob and Nicky.

To Note

  • A big thank you to parents, Katrina and Jodie, who helped out on school photo day last Tuesday, especially in the afternoon coordinating family photos. For those who missed out – photo make up day is set for Tuesday 24 August.
  • Well done to our Girls Netball team who played great games last Friday. Good luck to our soccer and basketball teams this week.
  • Next week, we begin the Footsteps Dance program – on Mondays for the remainder of the term.
  • Father’s Day is just around the corner, stay tuned for details regarding this year’s Father’s Day Stall.
  • Book Week is not far away. Celebrations begin August 21st and continue through to August 27th. The theme for this year’s Book week is OLD WORLDS, NEW WORLDS, OTHER WORLDS. Our Book Week Assembly and Dress-up Day will be held on Friday 27th August. Have you started to think about a costume? Here are some great ideas from Your Local Families Magazine.
  • Our School Closure Day still remains set for Friday 10th September. (You would be aware that the Royal Adelaide Show has been cancelled).
  • Sports Day is scheduled for Friday 22nd October. Parent involvement will be determined by the advice from SA Health closer to the time.
  • Our last Student Free Day for 2021 is Friday 26th November.
  • Lost property is continuing to build up again – please check for any items that may have been misplaced.
  • To support our planning for 2022, we would like students / families who will not be at Craigburn in 2022 to contact the school via phone 8270 4144 or email dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au This does not include any current Year 6 or 7 students. Thank you.
  • Families that have a sibling enrolment for 2022 will soon receive an enrolment form and letter outlining information for transition visits, which will occur over three consecutive Wednesdays 10th, 17th and 24th of November.

Reminders

COVID

To keep our community and yourselves safe, please note the following details:

  • We encourage students to enter / exit the school grounds themselves. Parents and caregivers, please only enter the school grounds if needing to do so (QR codes to be scanned – masks to be worn). Parents / caregivers should not enter classrooms / buildings.
  • Please adhere to physical distancing at all times.
  • Please be patient around drop off / pick up times as these areas are likely to be extra busy.
  • When dropping off / collecting your child/ren please leave as soon as possible.
  • Limit contact in the front office where possible – please phone or email if needed.
  • Do not send your child/ren to school if they are unwell.

At this stage there is no end date to these guidelines

ThankEd

  • Thank you again to those who have sent a shout out to our staff via the Department’s ThankED initiative. Those on the receiving end have felt very much loved and appreciated.
  • Feel free to send a message of thanks any time you feel the need. ThankED provides you as parents and caregivers the chance to celebrate and thank the teachers and staff who are making a positive difference every day. All you need to do is complete the online form. https://www.education.sa.gov.au/webforms/thanked

Parent Engagement Survey

  • Two weeks ago you should have received an invitation to participate in a Parent Engagement Survey from the Department for Education.
  • As previously shared, the survey is a great opportunity for Craigburn Primary School and the Department to gain valuable insights into what we are doing well, where we can improve and what’s important to parents and caregivers.
  • We encourage all parents and caregivers to complete the survey. More information is available at www.education.sa.gov.au/parentsurvey

Year 6 / 7 to High School Parent Update

  • This term enrolment offers for secondary school will be sent to the families of our year 6 and 7 students. It is important for you to know that not all schools will send out their enrolment offers at the same time, but they will be sent as close as possible to 13 August 2021.
  • Most families will receive their offer via email. If you think you have not received your enrolment offer from your secondary school, you need to check your junk folder for an email from education.noreply@sa.gov.au
  • If you did not provide an email address on your Registration of Interest form, you will receive your enrolment offer in the mail or it will be handed to you by your child.
  • If your enrolment offer has not arrived by 18 August, please let the Front Office know and we can follow up with the secondary school on your behalf.
  • If you need support to accept your enrolment offer, it is best to contact your allocated secondary school and they can step you through the process.

Volunteer Requirements

Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC).

  • Ongoing volunteers must do mandatory notification training. As of the 1st of July 2021 all volunteers will need to update their RAN Training, which is now called Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care, or RRHAN-EC for short.
  • Click this link Plink account for volunteers – RRHAN-EC training to do the online training update. Once completed please email a copy of certificate  dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au

Working with Children Checks

  • Now is a good time to check the status of your ‘Working With Children Check.’ The older checks had a 3 year expiry, with the newer checks having a 5 year expiry date.
  • Please note these checks can take time to process, therefore applying for a check well in advance is the best option to ensure you are able to volunteer.
  • Please follow the attached link to apply, or to check the status of a working with children check: www.screening.sa.gov.au

Staff Car Park

  • Staff car parks in all schools are for staff only with the exception of those with a disability.
  • This is the same for staff working in other workplaces such as hospitals and private practices.
  • When dropping off / collecting your child from OSHC please park in the kiss and drop zone and / or off street parking.
  • This will ensure our staff can safely park their vehicles in the morning and exit in the afternoons.
