Sports Day 2021

This year’s Sports Day will be held on Friday 22nd October – Term 4 Week 2.

All new students to the school will be placed in a Sports Day team being Bradman (Blue), Fraser (Green), Riley (Red) or Woodforde (Yellow).

Sports Day Captains

This year both Year 7 and Year 6 students will have the opportunity to nominate for Sports Day Captains for each house team.  There will be 4 Captains in each house team, a Year 6 boy and girl and  a Year 7 boy and  girl.

The Year 6/7 class teachers are currently working with their students to discuss the qualities, skills and role of Sports Day House Captains.

Students who wish to nominate will do so to their class teacher and then begin the process of preparing  a speech outlining their  skills and qualities.

On Friday of Week 6 the students who have nominated will meet individually with our Specialist PE Teacher, Karen Pettman, to check in and discuss the role of a Sports Day Captain. On Tuesday of Week 7 they will present their speech to the Year 3-7 students,  who will vote for their Captains.

The Sports Day Captains will then work together to organise chants, health hustle, house meetings and equipment in the lead up to Sports Day. Once all Captains have been selected we will post names and photos introducing you to our 2021 Sports Day Captains.

Sprint Run Offs

In Week 8 on Tuesday 7th September we will hold sprint run offs for  the Year 3 – 7 students for the sprints and relay championships which takes place in the afternoon of Sports Day.

Students should wear appropriate footwear on this day. Catch up run offs for students away or injured will be completed by the end of Week 9.

Students that will be running in the championship races in the afternoon of Sports Day, will receive notification of their event once results are consolidated.

Guest Speaker

As in previous years we like to invite a special guest to talk at the beginning of Sports Day. This person could be a sports person, athlete, past student, parent or someone who has a sporting accomplishment to share with the students.

Our Sports Day Captains could ask the guest some questions about their achievements or they could talk to the students for a couple of minutes before we begin our tabloid events.

If you know of anyone that might be able to help us out please email Karen Pettman at karen.pettman675@schools.sa.edu.au

More information and a timetable of the day will be provided closer to the day.
