We hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend and spent valuable time with their families.
National Day Of Action Against Bullying And Violence – Kindness, and it starts with you.
As mentioned in last week’s post, this Friday 18 March, marks the National Day Of Action Against Bullying And Violence with the theme of ‘Kindness – and it starts with you.’
The Kindness theme offers an opportunity for us to learn more about kindness and how to demonstrate kind behaviour. Kindness plays an important role in bullying prevention and is linked to our school value – Caring.
Students and classes have been creating ‘Kindness Flowers’ which will be on display in the front office. A display has also been created in the library for students and staff to acknowledge Random acts of Kindness.
We look forward to a day of extra special kindness on Friday.
Say thanks with a ThankED note
Students, staff and the community are able to send messages of thanks through the ThankED program to those who have made a difference.
ThankED gives you the chance to celebrate and thank public educators who make a difference every day, as well as those people who work in support of them.
Feel free to submit a message of thanks to someone who has made a difference to your child/ren and family.
Harmony Day
The following Monday, 21 March is Harmony Day – a day we celebrate Australian multiculturalism, based on the successful integration of migrants into our community.
Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. It is also about understanding different cultures and ways of life, and seeing how they can fit together.
With its motto ‘Everyone belongs’, Harmony day reminds us to appreciate everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.
To celebrate our community’s cultural diversity, we invite students and staff to either dress up in orange or come to school dressed in their family’s national attire / costume.
We have also extended an invitation to all families to share a favourite recipe to contribute to a digital book (PDF) recognising our community’s cultural diversity. Please see the recent post for details. We are looking forward to seeing The Craigburn Cultural Cuisine Digital Cookbook soon.
We are looking forward to uniting together to celebrate our cultural diversity and learn new things about other cultures in our community at a whole school assembly on this day.

COVID-19 Update
With restrictions gradually beginning to ease, from Wednesday 16 March parents and caregivers across all year levels will be able to accompany their child/ren on school grounds.
Parents and caregivers are reminded to wear masks at all times, socially distance and to refrain from entering classrooms. We ask that parents and caregivers leave the school grounds once children have arrived at their classrooms.
We also remind parents and caregivers to only enter school grounds after 3.00pm for afternoon pick up.
It has been pleasing to see students developing increased independence and responsibility in arriving at school over the last 6 weeks. Where possible, we encourage students to continue with this practice.
We have been appreciative of the support and feedback from families through these challenging times.
