Celebration Night
We are very much looking forward to hosting our annual Craigburn Celebration Night, the first time since 2019, on Monday 12th December, commencing at 6.30pm.
Celebration Night is about celebrating the end of the school year through song and dance performances from all classes and an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our students, staff and parent community for their support throughout the year. The school choir will be leading the singing of a number of Christmas carols as part of the evening festivities. On the Night we will also extend our best wishes and say farewell to the graduating year 6 students and families.
Please note the following details:
- Students are required to be at their classrooms by no later than 6.00pm where they will then be ushered to the oval by their teachers at 6.15pm in readiness for a 6.30pm start.
- Class teachers will provide families with information regarding dress / costumes.
- Families and friends are encouraged to arrive early to find a suitable spot on the oval banks facing the oval where the performances will take place. Many families choose to bring along picnic style tea.
- We ask that students have a snack / bite to eat prior to 6:00pm, as the performance will finish at approximately 7:50pm. Students can bring a water bottle with them to keep throughout the performances.
- Students may like to bring a spare jumper / jacket if the evening weather looks is forecasted to be chilly.
- The playground will be marked off – so younger / older siblings will need to sit with their families.
- Programs are available on the night for a gold coin donation.
The Canteen will be running a sausage sizzle from 5.00pm for those needing a quick bite to eat. If you are able to volunteer to help run the sausage sizzle, please contact Bron or Sam at the front office on 82704144 or email dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au
A photo board will be on display under the main verandah with a timeline of showcasing our school’s rich history.
The Christmas Raffle will be drawn towards the end of the evening.

Learner Achievement Assembly
Prior to the volunteers morning tea, we will be holding a whole school assembly to acknowledge a range of learner achievements including ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools), the Premier’s Challenges, the Commissioner’s Digital Challenge, student leaders and the Young Environmental Leaders Program. If you will be attending the volunteer’s morning tea, you are most welcome to join us earlier for this assembly. Please remember to register here.
Commissioner’s Digital Challenge – Outstanding Achievement
Congratulations and well done to our German teacher, Carly (Frau) Smith, who entered and introduced Craigburn students to the Commissioner’s Digital Challenge. Similar to the Premier’s Be Active Challenge and the Premier’s Reading Challenge, this challenge encourages young people to engage in a variety of digital thinking tasks and is open to South Australian students.
As part of this challenge our Reception to Year 4 students were introduced and worked through varying levels of Kodable and the Year 5/6 students problem-solved their way through code.org This was the very first year of Craigburn Primary School participating in the challenge and what a result we achieved – we were a first prize recipient!

An outstanding effort and result, with credit and special thanks to Frau Smith for her excellent leadership to develop our students’ digital capabilities.
COVID-19 Update
You would most likely be aware of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the state and country. This is reflected in our school community where a small number of cases have been reported in recent times. With many end of year activities and events on the horizon we ask everyone to be considerate of each other. If your child is unwell / symptomatic (COVID), please keep them home. Thank you for your cooperation.
Lost Property
Please check in with the lost property area for any lost / misplaced items, which will be positioned in the hallway adjacent to the gym entrance. Any left over clothing items will be claimed by the second hand uniform shop, with the rest of the items will be disposed of.
To Note / Friendly Reminders
- Leaving Craigburn in 2023? Aside from Year 6 students graduating at the end of this year – if your child will not be returning to Craigburn Primary School in 2023, please inform the front office. This will help us with our forward planning for the 2023 school year. Thank you.
- Please keep the school informed of any recent changes to your contact details.
- School opens at 8.30am – students should not be on school grounds prior to this time unless supervised by a parent / caregiver. Similarly, after school, students should not be staying on grounds after school unless accompanied by an adult (and including sports practice).
