Casual Clothes Day – Charity Fundraiser – Friday 7 July, 2023

Craigburn Primary School believes in the power of student voices and their ability to drive positive change.

Our student leaders, who meet together each fortnight, have discussed the difficult challenges that people may experience in their lives. These challenges can come in many forms including financial, social, wellbeing and health struggles.

In their discussions, student leaders have decided that they would like to direct their end of term casual clothes day charity fundraiser to help raise awareness and support those who are experiencing the challenges of homelessness.

Homelessness is an issue that affects individuals of all backgrounds and walks of life.  It can be caused by a multitude of factors, including job loss, economic instability, mental health issues, the cost of living and lack of affordable housing.

The 2021 ABS Census determined that in Australia there are 122,494 people who are homeless and these figures are significantly rising.

  • on any given night 1 in 200 people are homeless.
  • 60% of people facing homelessness were under 35 years old
  • 17,646 children under 12 years old were homeless
  • 1 in 7 people facing homelessness will sleep rough

On the last day of term, Friday 7th July, we encourage every student at Craigburn to participate in our casual clothes day and bring along a small donation, which will go directly towards supporting the Hutt Street Centre, an organisation dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness.

Your contributions, no matter the amount, will go towards providing essential resources such as clothing, food, blankets and shelter, which will make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.

Thank you for being part of our resilient school community. Together, we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are less fortunate in our community and cultivate a spirit of gratitude within our school.
