The Weekly Wrap – Term 4 Week 2 – 2023

World Teachers Day – Friday 27th October

On the last Friday of October every year, Australia celebrates World Teachers’ Day. World Teachers’ Day (Australia) is an opportunity to give thanks and show appreciation to the teachers in our lives. Teachers play such an important role in our school community and have been an incredible support to students and families over the 2023 school year.

We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated  team of teachers at Craigburn who come to school every day to make a difference in the lives of the young people they teach.

On Friday in Australia, we celebrate the teaching profession and encourage students and families in our community to celebrate our teachers. A simple message of thanks can really make a teacher’s day.

School Run4Fun Colour Splatacular

As posted last week, we are very much looking forward to our  ‘School Run4Fun Colour Splatacular’ on Friday 3rd November (end of Week 3).

A big thank you to students and families for taking time to support our big fundraising venture for the year and to support a fantastic cause, 🌱Building an outdoor kitchen in our school garden 🌱

Just over 15 years ago, our school community came together to raise money for the construction of our ‘environmental learning centre / school garden’ –  for the betterment and enjoyment of our school community.

Example – outdoor kitchen concepts

If you haven’t already done so, please take a few moments to check in with the earlier post, providing details for the ‘Run4Fun Colour Splatacular’

On this day, school staff will be working on analysing a range of student learning data to inform future planning and learning for the 2024 school year. Results from this year’s Progressive Achievement Tests in Maths and Reading, NAPLAN and Phonics Screening Tests, and reading test results.

Bushfire Response Plan

Please take time to read through the Bushfire Response Plan post. We have updated our school’s bushfire response plan for 2023/4, which forms part of our local emergency management procedures.

The bushfire response plan ensures what action we need to take on days of increased fire danger or in the event of a potential or actual bushfire threat. The bushfire response plan also assists the Department’s Security and Emergency Management (SEM) unit in providing emergency services key information regarding the location of students and staff during a bushfire emergency. Read more here.

Leaving Craigburn in 2024?

Aside from Year 6 students graduating at the end of this year – if your child will not be returning to Craigburn Primary School in 2023, please inform the front office. This will help us with our forward planning for the 2024 school year. Thank you.

School opens at 8.30am

Students should not be on school grounds prior to this time unless supervised by a parent / caregiver. Similarly, after school, students should not be staying on grounds after school unless accompanied by an adult (and including sports practice).
