The Weekly Wrap – Term 3 Week 10 – 2024

As we approach the close of Term 3, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all parents and friends who have supported our school community throughout the year.

A special thanks to the parents who have taken on roles as coordinators, coaches, and team managers in our after-school winter sports programs, including soccer, netball, and basketball. We hope students and families enjoyed an exciting and rewarding season of sport.

We would also like to acknowledge our students for their active participation in a wide range of activities this term, including their class learning programs, lunchtime clubs, Green and Gold Day, Book Week celebrations, buddy classes, garden club and lessons, YELP, sports, choir, Sapsasa, ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools), SRC, excursions, camps and more.

The Premier’s Reading and Be Active Challenges have officially wrapped up for the year, and we’ve recorded the results. Awards, certificates, and medals for these challenges will arrive in mid-November. A special thank you to Krysten and Emily (Library) and Karen Pettman (PE) for their coordination and promotion of these challenges.

We would also like to give a big shout-out to our teaching and support staff for their dedication and hard work over the term. We hope they enjoy a well-deserved break before the busy final term ahead.

Wishing all students, staff, and families a safe and enjoyable October long weekend and school holidays!

Learning with LEGO Robotics

Our Year 6 STEM leaders have been enthusiastically engaging with LEGO Robotics, developing critical coding and problem-solving skills. Here’s what a few of them had to say about their experiences:

  • Alfie: “I’ve learned how to code a robot!”
  • Beau: “I’ve been coding Scratch robots using the LEGO Prime set.”
  • Thomas: “I’ve learned how to code using block coding.”
  • Scarlett: “We made mistakes with the sensors, so we had to fix things with coding and LEGO. It was really fun figuring it out!”

This was the first time students used sensors to detect reflection and colour, and they worked together to problem-solve around following lines. It’s been fantastic to see their perseverance and teamwork in action!

Important Update: New School Dress Code

As part of our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we are developing a new dress code guided by the Education and Children’s Services Act 2019. This code will reflect our community’s values and needs, ensuring that students are comfortable, safe, and able to express themselves.

We invite all parents, students, and staff to share their thoughts through a brief survey. Your feedback is essential in shaping a dress code that promotes a positive school identity while considering safety, comfort, diversity, and affordability.

Please take a moment to fully read through the School Dress Code – Parent Feedback post and participate in the survey by Sunday, October 20th. Your input will help us create a dress code that benefits our entire school community.

Traffic and Parking and the Heath Lane reserve area

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of safe and responsible parking around the school, particularly in the Heath Lane reserve area. We’ve had reports from local residents of cars parking on footpaths, creating access issues to their properties. Please remember to park thoughtfully and use the Kiss and Drop zone as per the signage.
