River Pollution Experiment

We have been talking about how we can look after the environment. This week we did an experiment to see how pollution can occur in the river system. We followed the story of ‘Danny the Drip’ and looked at how different actions by humans can impact the quality of the water. The water started off really clean and eventually looked disgusting! Some of the pollutants were fishing line, rubbish, petrol, oil, sand, salt, toxic chemicals, soil, cigarettes, manure, leaves, detergent and lawn clippings. We also talked about how we could limit the impact of these things on the river. Here are some photos taken by Tahlia throughout the experiment. You can see a big change in the colour of the water. Great photography skills Tahlia!
