Students were given the challenge in our buddies lesson to design and create the tallest freestanding structure you can with just jelly beans and matchsticks. They were given 30 matchsticks and 20 jellybeans to start off with. There was an option of ‘buying’ more supplies too. Students were given $3.00 of pretend money and were given the option to buy extra jelly beans at 20c each and matchsticks at 5c each. Here are some photos of students busy at work with their buddy and their final creations. It proved to be a challenging task for many and required lots of communication and resilience.
