CSIRO Lab on Legs Visit

On Monday our class had a session with Carol from the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation).
We worked as Scientists by investigating and experimenting during 4 different activities about Forces.
We looked at:

  • Balancing points – the centre of gravity.
  • Waddling ducks – measurement.
  • Magnets – attraction and repulsion
  • Cartesian Divers – floating and sinking.

It was a lot of fun trying new ideas, trying out experiments, testing our predictions and recording our work. Have a look at our photos of the visit and tell us what you think about our work. We look forward to your comments!

  1. Hi Miss Sporn’s Scientists! Your Lab on Legs session looks as though it had lots of opportunities for some fantastic learning. In the photos you all look as if you were focussed and listening carefully to all the instructions. I wonder if you could use any of the things you learnt for your Structures Inquiry? My class is having their Lab on Legs session on Friday. We are looking forward to it – especially after seeing your photos. From Mrs Nelson

  2. Hello Miss Sporn and and all your clever people. Wasn’t Lab on Legs great? Did you do the balancing bee? That was our favourite. Did you all feel like scientists? We enjoyed the waddling duck. Could you move your car a long way? Your Blog is looking wonderful. We enjoy looking at all the things you have been learning. Your library shelf looks great!

  3. Hi Room 24,

I was very impressed by all your hard work and fun that has been had over the past few months. It’s great to see learning in such fun ways. Enjoy the rest of the year and welcome spring and outdoor play.
