Outdoor Play

As one way to increase our steps for the Global Children’s Walking Challenge we decided to do Play outside today. We had beautiful Spring weather and we all loved being outside.

We planned a list of activities to choose from before we started. Some of the activities we had were playing on the Playground equipment, chalk drawing, playing elastics, playing 4 square on the courts, playing Passport, soccer, using the dress ups and lots of others.

We had to plan our activity, work out where were going to play, what equipment we would need and who was in our groups.

Global Walking Challenge

Today we started our Global Walking Challenge. Everyone in our class is wearing a pedometer and we count the steps we make everyday. We are trying to walk our way around the world. Out team’s name is Sporny’s Super Stars!!
Each night we record our steps for the day in our log book. In the morning we log onto the website and enter our steps. The website then works out an average distance for our class and we move around the world.
We are starting in Palm Island – off the coast of Queensland, then move up the Great Barrier Reef and then will board a sea plane to continue our travels.
Everyone was SO excited this morning and we did lots of exercise during the day. We started with Footsteps dance, then worked outdoors with our Garden Buddies Project and then had Play outdoors.

Check out the website for the Global Walking Challenge for Juniors.
We’d love to hear how you are exercising.

Footsteps Dance

Last Thursday, at Footsteps, we learnt a dance called The Military Twostep.

It is a dance that is over 100 years old but we danced to modern music. It is a partner dance and the girls moved around the circle so we had lots of different dance partners.

It was lots of fun!

Open Night

On Tuesday night we held Open Night at Craigburn Primary School. This means we open up our classrooms for the families and friends of our school. Our families could visit from 6pm – 7.30pm and tour around the whole school. As a part of our tours we made bangles for our wrists and collected coloured dots from each area of the school. Then families names were entered into a raffle to win a prize.

Here are some of our visitors to our classroom.

Footsteps Dance Programme

Today we started our dance programme with the Footsteps instructor Erin. Footsteps is a fun way to learn different dances. We started with an individual dance and by the end of the 5 week programme we will learn a partner dance. We learnt how to ask partners to dance in a polite way.

Check out the Tumblr link to see us!!
It was great fun.
