The Books we are showcasing today and tomorrow are the short listed books form the Picture Book of the Year category. ‘King Pig’ by Nick Bland is entertaining and it uses humour to remind us that it is important to be kind. Because he was the king, he could make the sheep do whatever he wanted, whenever he pleased. But he just couldn’t make them like him. The illustrations help to tell the story and bring the character to life.

‘The Treasure Box’ by Margaret Wild is a beautiful story about resilience and strength of the human spirit. There are some things that can’t be destroyed by bombs and fire.

‘Silver Buttons’ by Bob Graham is a beautiful story that captures a vision of the world in one moment in time.
