Our school is having a fundraiser!
On the last day of term 3 we will be “Doing It In A Dress.” This means that for a gold coin donation all the staff and students will be wearing a dress to school. Of course, it you don’t feel comfortable wearing a dress you can just come in casual clothes. The main thing to focus on is raising as much money as possible.
The reason for wearing a dress? Well, did you know that in some countries around the world girls don’t go to school just because they are a girl? In fact, over 60 million girls around the world are denied an education. Without an education a girl can be kept in the cycle of poverty, and struggle to earn an income or look after herself and her family.
BUT A girl’s income increases by at least 10% for every year she stays in school. She’ll get married later and have a smaller, healthier family when she’s ready. Her health, economic status, and future family all benefit.
The money we raise will go towards providing teachers, equipment like books and pencils, making schools safe for children to attend and providing an education so that girls have a positive future to look forward to.
On the last day of school wear a dress and/or casual clothes and bring in a donation. Tell your friends and family about it and maybe they would like to donate too. You will find our donation page at https://www.doitinadress.com/craigburn-primary-school or visit the Do It In A Dress website for more information.
Here’s a link to a YouTube clip too that classes may also like to watch.
