Thank You Craigburn Community!
A huge thank you to all of the families and students who generously donated and purchased books at Craigburn’s inaugural Great Book Swap. Together, we have raised over $270 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) – an incredible effort for our first event! We hope students enjoy their ‘new to them’ reads.

Your support helps make a real difference. In many remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, access to books is extremely limited, with little or no libraries or bookstores. The ILF works to change this by investing in Community and providing children and families with opportunities to connect with reading and stories.
The ILF is a Community-led organisation that runs three key programs:
-
Book Buzz – building early literacy skills for babies and toddlers through story time in both English and First Languages.
-
Book Supply – gifting carefully chosen, culturally relevant books (many by Indigenous authors and illustrators) to playgroups, schools, health centres and more.
-
Community Publishing – supporting adults and children to create, publish and share their own stories in the languages of their choice.
Since 2011, the ILF has gifted more than 869,000 books to over 424 remote Communities, supported 107 playgroups with its early literacy program, and published 126 books reflecting 36 First Languages.
Thank you for helping us support this important work and for making our first Great Book Swap such a success!
If you missed out there is still a chance to buy a book or make a donation before our Book Week Parade this Friday 22/8, 8:30–9:00am – located just outside the library under the veranda near E23/E24. GOLD COIN DONATION. Unfortunately we cannot accept QKR, Eftpos or IOU. We’d love to see you there!!
