Best of Luck to Our School Choir – Festival of Music
We’re thrilled for our Craigburn choir, under the direction of Jimmy Marin (Performing Arts Teacher), as they get ready to take the stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre this Tuesday evening for the Festival of Music.
This is a wonderful highlight for our singers, who have been rehearsing with great commitment and enthusiasm over many months.
We’re proud of their teamwork and dedication, and we look forward to seeing them represent our school with confidence and joy. Wishing all of our talented students the very best for an enjoyable and memorable performance.

Support for young people viewing violent and distressing online content
We are mindful that recent events overseas have led to distressing online content circulating, which some young people may encounter. As a school, we want to ensure families are supported in guiding children through these challenging situations. The eSafety Commissioner has provided important advice on how to respond if children are exposed to violent or upsetting material online.
eSafety is aware that distressing material is circulating online showing the fatal shooting at Utah Valley University, which occurred earlier this week.
Young people who encounter content like this online may be struggling to come to terms with what they have read and seen. It is normal for them to have questions or feel unsettled, and your support can make a big difference.
Online spaces should be safe for everyone. If a child sees violent or distressing material, it is important to check in and talk to them about the content they have seen. We also recommend that children use devices in open areas of the home, rather than in their bedroom, so you can be attuned to how they are coping and what they are engaging with online.
Here are some practical steps Australians can take if they come across this type of material online:
- Report it to the platform: Most major services have reporting tools for violent and graphic content. Using these tools means harmful material can be flagged and removed quickly.
- Report it to eSafety: Australians can lodge a complaint via esafety.gov.au
- Do not share the video: Even if your intent is to raise awareness, reposting graphic material increases the risk of trauma and amplifies harm.
You can find more guidance and information about distressing online content below.

Supporting Kids Before Smartphones
A number of Craigburn families have recently joined Wait Mate — a grassroots initiative launched in Australia in 2024 that’s encouraging families to think carefully about the right age for children to receive their first smartphone.
While phones can be useful, research highlights that getting a smartphone too early can affect children’s wellbeing — impacting self-esteem, learning, and exposing them to risks such as bullying and online harm.
As a community, we can support our children by:
- Delaying the age for first smartphones
- Considering simpler devices or watches to stay in touch
- Talking openly about safe and balanced technology use

Netball Presentations – Thursday 18th September
A reminder that our Netball Presentations will be held this Thursday, 18th September, starting at 3:20pm.
We look forward to celebrating the season with our players, coaches, families, and supporters.
Illnesses
Over the last few months we have had students and staff away from school due to various illnesses. As we continue to navigate through this, we’d like to gently remind you of some guidance from SA Health regarding the common illnesses we’re seeing at the moment:
COVID:
- SA Health – COVID-19 Information If your child tests positive for COVID, please inform the school, as we are required to report these cases to the Education Department. Children should stay at home for 5 days from the date of the positive test and may return to school once they are symptom-free.
Gastroenteritis:
Influenza:
Common Cold:
To help reduce the spread of these and other illnesses, we kindly ask families to keep an eye on the recommended incubation periods and keep children at home if they are unwell or need time to recover. Thank you for your support.
Temporary Relief Teachers (TRTs)
At times, teachers may be away from school for reasons such as illness, family needs, professional learning, or student assessments. When this happens, we do our best to arrange temporary relief teachers (TRTs) who already know our students and school routines.
As there is currently a high demand for TRTs across the education system, it isn’t always possible to secure our regular relief staff—or, on occasion, any TRTs at all. In these situations, we carefully adjust classes to make sure learning continues as smoothly as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Traffic and Parking
The local council has clear signage / road markings in relation to off-street parking. We respectfully ask families and friends to be extra mindful of adhering to the parking rules and regulations. This is in the best interest of safety for our students / families and local residents.
Friendly Reminders
Hats back on!
Please ensure your child has a hat before they come to school every day. School hats are required for recess, lunch and other outdoor learning activities. School hats can be purchased through Qkr!, or at the front office.
