The Weekly Wrap – Term 4 Week 8 – 2025

With just two weeks to go until the end of the school year, it’s a busy and exciting time at Craigburn. We have many events, celebrations and opportunities for students and families coming up as we head into the final stretch of Term 4. Here’s what’s happening across our school community over this time.

Craigburn’s Got Talent Showcase – Tuesday 2nd December

Our much-anticipated Craigburn’s Got Talent Showcase is just days away! This exciting event celebrates the amazing talents of our students, showcasing their creativity, passion, and skills. We wish all the performers the very best as they take the stage to share their talents with our school community. Good luck, and have fun.

Gala Day – Friday 5th December

Gala Day is this Friday 5th December. As mentioned previously, Gala Day is a student-led event where students in Years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to showcase their enterprising skills in running a Food, Craft or Activity Stall.

Please note the information below:

  • Session times on Friday are:
    • Reception – Year 2: 11.15am – 11.50am
    • Year 3 – Year 6: 12.00pm – 12.40pm
  • There are about 35 to 40 stalls being a combination of Food, Activity and Craft stalls.
  • Stalls are located, mostly in sheltered areas around the main buildings as well as the court areas.
  • Food stalls will have ingredients listed – but please if your child has an allergy, remind him / her not to take or handle food that they may be allergic to.
  • We suggest that students bring along a small amount of money for the day,  up to $5.00 for Reception to Year 2 students and up to $10 for older students. A purse of wallet and small bag may be useful. Please try to bring coins not notes to assist with the pricing of stalls which ranges from 20c to $1.
  • Children are encouraged to visit a range of stalls.
  • On Friday at Recess, children will be able to visit stalls to look at what is available.

We especially thank all stall holders and families for their efforts in supporting this annual event. We are looking forward to an enjoyable day.

New School Uniform Items Available from Monday 15th December

We are pleased to let families know that our updated Craigburn Primary School uniform items will be available to order from Monday 15th December through DLC Clothing.

Families will be able to view the updated items online (DLC Online Shop) from 15th December, with only minor adjustments made to the current uniform range — including a refreshed update to our school logo. These changes improve consistency and quality while retaining our familiar navy and gold colours.

As part of this process, we are finalising a full Dress Code update, which will be shared with families soon. This will outline uniform requirements clearly, and reflect community feedback. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students present proudly and safely in our Craigburn uniform.

Social media age restrictions

From 10 December 2025, age restricted social media platforms will be required to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 from creating or keeping an account.

The restrictions aim to protect young Australians from pressures and risks that users can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts. These risks are often related to features that encourage extended screen time and expose young people to content that may affect their health and wellbeing.

There are no penalties for children, parents or carers. The responsibility sits entirely with the social media platforms.

Resources are available for parents, on the Office of the eSafety Commissioner website which provides up-to-date information on:

Class Structure, Placement and Orientation Visits for 2026 – Wednesday 10th December

We continue to work on our class placement process for 2026. This is a detailed and thoughtful process where our teachers and leadership team collaborate to create optimal learning environments for all students. Please read more here.

Lost Property

Please come into school and check the lost property tubs near the second hand uniform shop. They are overflowing with jumpers, hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles.

End of Year Reports

At this time of the term, teachers are finalising end of year student reports. As part of the reporting process, teachers have been working with year level team colleagues to moderate and discuss student assessments to ensure consistency of teacher judgement when reporting A-E grades for subject areas within the Australian Curriculum. Reports will be emailed home with students on Wednesday 10th December. For families who have a child absent from school in the last week of term (and who have an approved exemption) will have the report emailed.

Last Day of the School Year – Friday 12th December – Early Dismissal – 2.10pm

As per the department’s policy regarding early dismissals, schools are only able to dismiss students up to one hour prior to normal dismissal. This means that on our last school day of the year, Friday 12th December, students will be dismissed at 2.10pm.
