Years 3-5 Swimming Lessons – March 2025

The Department for Education’s water safety program teaches children how to be safe in and around water. This program is part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum at school. Trained instructors from the department will teach the students.

As part of this program, students in Years 3 to 5 are invited to participate in our annual swimming program, held at the SA Aquatic Centre, Marion, from 24th March to 28th March 2025.

Program Details:

  • Cost: $58 (includes transport by bus, pool entry, and equipment use).
  • Payment: Please pay via Qkr! 21st March
  • Transport: Students will travel by bus. Lesson times remain the same each day.

Daily Schedule:

Lesson 1:

  • Classes: B11 (Somerset/Shearer), B12 (Fergusson), B13 (Webster)
  • Bus Departs: 9:00 am
  • Lesson Time: 9:30 – 10:30 am
  • Bus Returns: 10:45 am (Arrives at school by 11:15 am)

Lesson 2:

  • Classes: C14 (Khalaf/McMahon), C15 (Humphrys/McMahon), B8 (Grant)
  • Bus Departs: 10:00 am
  • Lesson Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am
  • Bus Returns: 11:45 am (Arrives at school by 12:15 pm)

Lesson 3:

  • Classes: C16 (Hepworth/McMahon), C17 (Sophie), B9 (Lemmey)
  • Bus Departs: 11:20 am
  • Lesson Time: 12:00 – 1:00 pm
  • Bus Returns: 1:15 pm (Arrives at school by 1:35 pm)

Items to Bring:

✔ Light bag for belongings
✔ School jumper
✔ Brush/comb
✔ Towel
✔ Water bottle
✔ School hat
✔ Footwear – slides/thongs
✔ Underwear
✔ Plastic bag for wet clothes
✔ Goggles

Important Notes:

  • Label all belongings with your child’s name.
  • No valuables (e.g., mobile phones, money, jewellery) are to be taken to swimming.
  • Bathers must be worn under school uniforms each day.
  • Footwear:
    • Students must wear regular shoes to school and can change into swimming footwear before leaving.
    • Exception: B11, B12, and B13 students (first lesson) may wear thongs to school.
  • No photos/videos are to be taken at the pool.

Swimming Centre Guidelines:

  • Parents may watch lessons at the swimming centre but must not take photos/videos.
  • The “Get In, Participate, Get Out” process will be followed:
    1. Students arrive at the centre wearing bathers, a dressing gown/hoodie/windcheater, thongs or slip-on shoes, a towel, and goggles.
    2. Participate in lessons.
    3. Exit the pool, change into dry clothes, and board the bus.

Volunteers Needed!

To support supervision, we require parent volunteers. Volunteers must be registered with the school. If you are available, please contact the front office to express your interest.

Forms & Submission Deadline:

The ‘Consent Form for Camp/Excursion’ and the ‘Water Safety Consent Form’ have been emailed to families. Please read, complete all sections, and return them to school.
