The Harmony Day celebration at Craigburn Primary School was a great success, with students and staff embracing the theme “Everyone Belongs.” Throughout the week, we explored different cultures and celebrated diversity, with highlights including a transformed front entrance, everyone wearing orange or traditional cultural attire, and a fun Harmony Day Disco superbly hosted by Friends of Craigburn. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and recognise the importance of inclusivity and respect.
Swimming Week – Years 3-5
This week, students in Years 3-5 will participate in the Department for Education’s water safety program, which is part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. This program will run from 24th March to 28th March at the SA Aquatic Centre, Marion. Students will travel by bus, and the lesson times are as follows:
- Lesson 1: B11, B12, B13 – 9:30-10:30 am
- Lesson 2: C14, C15, B8 – 10:30-11:30 am
- Lesson 3: C16, C17, B9 – 12:00-1:00 pm
Please ensure your child brings the following items: a light bag, school jumper, towel, water bottle, hat, footwear (slides or thongs), goggles, and a plastic bag for wet clothes. Label all belongings and remember that no valuables should be brought to swimming lessons.
Parents are welcome to watch the lessons but should not take photos or videos. A big thank you to those who have volunteered – your support is greatly appreciated.
Sports Day
Sports Day is not far away – scheduled on Friday 4th April. Our Be Active Leaders in Year 6 have been busy working closer with our sports teacher, Mrs Pettman, to take the lead in organising the health hustle and team chants.
As always, we appreciate families and friends taking the time to come along on the day to join in the fun and excitement of the day. We also encourage parents to help out on the day with the sausage sizzle. Please check in with the latest post

and contact the front office if you can help out for 30 minutes or so.
Sports Day information and the program booklet will be soon available.
Thank you to PE teacher, Karen Pettman, for coordinating the Day, which we are sure will be an enjoyable event for our community. Please note the early dismissal time of 2.10pm.
Early Dismissals
We are guided by the Department’s Early Dismissal procedure to dismiss students (who have parental consent), 1 hour prior to normal dismissal on the following occasions.
- on the last day of each school term
- on a school sports day
- the day before the Easter holiday break
For this year, this means 1 hour early dismissals will occur on:
- Sports Day, Friday 4th April and,
- the last day of term 1, Friday 11th April.
Easter Raffle
Thank you to the families who have donated to our annual Easter raffle, which will be drawn at our end of term assembly on Friday 11th April. We continue to welcome donations for the raffle and ask that these are dropped to the front office. Extra raffle tickets can be picked up from the front office.
Car Parking
In the lead up to Sports Day, we remind all parents, carers and extended families and friends of the importance of road safety and parking around the school. We also remind everyone that Rangers from the local council visit schools at random times to check that parking regulations are adhered to on occasions such as sports days. Rangers will issue infringement notices where relevant.
A reminder too, that car parking by parents is not permitted on school grounds unless needing to use the disabled parking space or in an emergency. Thank you for your support.
