This year, the Governing Council will be sharing regular updates to keep you informed about what goes into running our school.
What Does the Governing Council Do?
The Governing Council works closely with school leadership to help guide and support Craigburn Primary School. Our key roles include:
- Listening to our school community and ensuring your needs and expectations are met.
- Developing and approving school policies.
- Helping shape the school’s direction and goals.
- Overseeing the school’s improvement plan and budget.
- Managing services like OSHC and the canteen.
What We’ve Been Working On
At our recent meeting, we covered some exciting topics:
- Budget Approval – We signed off on the 2025 budgets for the School, OSHC, and Canteen to ensure our financial resources support key priorities.
- Team Building Activity – We took part in a fun ‘Working Together’ activity using an animal personality quiz. We discovered we have a great mix of Lions, Otters, Beavers, and Golden Retrievers among us!
- Leadership & Teachers’ Reports – Paul Luke (Principal) shared updates on staffing, student learning, facilities, and curriculum. Sophie Sutherland also provided insights into what’s happening across year levels – thanks, Sophie!
- Sub-Committee Updates – We heard from each sub-committee doing amazing work behind the scenes to support the school.
- School Disco Success – The recent disco raised nearly $3,000 for upcoming school projects! A big thank you to all the parent volunteers who made it happen.
Exciting Things Coming Up!
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon:
- Craigburn Coffee Cart – We’re launching a new coffee cart every Tuesday and Thursday morning to bring parents and staff together over a cuppa – stay tuned!
- School Branding Refresh – We’re updating our school branding to better reflect our vision and values. This includes a uniform policy update and school signage. More details will be shared soon
- Communication Strategy – We’re working on a clear communications policy and updating parent information on our school website to make it easier for everyone to access information.
- Canteen Upgrades – We’re focusing on healthier food options for our students. To support this, all proceeds from the Second-Hand Uniform Shop in 2025 will go directly into upgrading the canteen.
We Need You!
We’re always looking for parents, grandparents, and friends to get involved in any way you can. Whether it’s volunteering at the canteen, joining a sub-committee, or sharing your great ideas – we’d love to hear from you!
If you’re interested, send an email to the Front Office or have a chat with a Governing Council member.
Thank you for your continued support – we look forward to sharing more updates soon!
