Recently, our Year 1 students explored the power of friendship through a fun Friendology Potatoes lesson. Just like potatoes, friendships come in all shapes and sizes—each unique, yet all needing kindness, respect, and care to grow.
Through Friendship Fact #2: Every Friendship is Different, students learned that no two friendships are the same—just as no two potatoes are identical! They discovered that different friendships require different approaches, and what works in one might not work in another.
In Friendship Fact #3: Trust & Respect are the Most Important Qualities in a Friendship, students explored how, like the strong roots of a potato plant, trust and respect form the foundation of a healthy friendship. They learned that respecting a friend’s thoughts, feelings, and opinions—even when they differ—helps friendships thrive.
This engaging activity was a fun reminder that while we may all look different on the outside, we share the same need for connection and kindness. We can’t wait to see our young learners continue to grow their friendships!
