What an amazing Sports Day! THANK YOU!
Days like Sports Day rely on a lot of behind-the-scenes work; ordering and coordinating stock like sausages, bread & donuts from external suppliers; mapping locations for pick up stations across the school; planning breaks around timetables etc.
Our Governing Council Canteen Committee (comprised of Sue, Annika, Sarah, Breanna & various staff members) have worked tirelessly over the last several weeks to ensure the canteen was prepared for the big day!
The biggest priority – getting the sausage sizzle manned and ready to take on those big lunchtime crowds – and manned and ready they were! Sarah, Breanna & Annika (Reception/Y1 mums) rallied up a large contingent of rockstar volunteer parents from across most year levels to cover the whole day cooking and serving under the veranda – thank you ladies!
We had many parents volunteering their time to help in many ways, including:
-
Cooking sausages and serving drinks
-
Handing out orders at the student sausage sizzle stations
-
Preparing bread with napkins
-
Cutting sausages, chopping onions
-
Selling treats and drink inside the canteen during breaks
-
Running items to the stations for students
A massive THANK YOU to you all; whether you helped for 5mins or 30mins, many hands make light work, and you were appreciated!
This year, instead of the traditional bake sale, we trialled having Sports Day team-coloured donuts from a new (to us) supplier. They looked delicious and BRIGHT! We hope you all enjoyed them! Thank you to Janine McKay & Annika for delivering these to the classrooms ready for the students to devour at recess.
Thank you to the staff and students of our school OSHC who generously baked and donated some delicious chocolate & vanilla cupcakes and honey crackles to sell in the canteen. They were a hit and sold out very quickly!
Thank you Friends of Craigburn team for organising the wonderful coffee van that I’m sure kept many people going throughout the day! Thank you Tamara and team!
A big shout out to Scout Group Leader Chris Wise who generously shared one of the Flagstaff Hill Scout Group BBQs for us to use for the day – it was a lifesaver having two BBQs going all day!
Thank you to our wonderful office staff who were at our beck and call, assisting with QKR orders, signage and coordination tasks.
And finally, to everyone who purchased something from us today, THANK YOU!
It is only with your support and generosity of time that we can continue putting on days like this. Your purchases allow us to keep fundraising for improvements within our canteen kitchen. It’s so great to see families getting together, getting into the spirit of the day and sharing a meal together.
If you ever feel like popping in to help for 10mins, 30mins or if you have a day spare(!), you’re ALWAYS welcome to say ‘Hi’ and jump on in at the canteen
Hope you enjoyed a restful weekend,
Sue
Canteen Manager
