The Weekly Wrap – Term 2 Week 1 – 2025

We hope all of our students, staff, and families enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing holiday and Easter break. A warm welcome to the new students and families joining our school community this term.

Term 2 is shaping up to be an exciting and eventful one, kicking off with Swimming Week for our Reception to Year 2 students at the SA Aquatic Centre in Marion. A huge thank you in advance to the parents who are generously volunteering their time to support supervision — your help is greatly appreciated.

To stay up to date with everything happening this term, please keep an eye on our Craigburn Connections blog and school emails. There’s plenty to look forward to, including Winter Sports (Netball, Soccer, Basketball), SAPSASA Cross Country, our popular Mother’s Day Stall and Breakfast, and much more.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday.

Introducing ‘The Daily Grind’ at Craigburn

We are absolutely buzzing with excitement to announce the grand opening of The Daily Grind coffee cart on the first day back to school, April 28th!

This incredible initiative is the brainchild of our dynamic duo, Sarah Jordan and Breanna Rosser, who have built the coffee cart from the ground up! Their passion and determination reflect the true spirit of our school community.

The Daily Grind is designed to be more than just a coffee stop; it’s a vibrant space for families and staff to come together, enjoy great coffee, and reconnect after the break. Sarah and Breanna have infused creativity and care into every detail, ensuring it’s a welcoming spot for everyone.

Please read more about the Daily Grind here.

Staffing Update

Frau (Carly) Smith, our German teacher, will be on leave for the first 4 weeks of term. Ms Kristie Bunting will be teaching German lessons for this period of time.

We would like to congratulate Tristan Fergusson and his wife, Lex, on the safe arrival of their baby, Magnolia (Maggie) Joy. Mr Kieran Buhagiar will be teaching the Year 5/6 class for the first five weeks of term while Tristan is on parenting leave.

Mother’s Day Stall and Breakfast

Our wonderful Friends of Craigburn team have been busy once again preparing for Mother’s Day – with our annual gift stall and breakfast just around the corner.

Please check in with all the details posted here.

Easter Raffle – Thank You!

A big thank you to all the families who kindly donated items and supported our annual Easter Raffle. The raffle was drawn at our end of term assembly on Friday 11th April, with many excited winners! We truly appreciate your generosity and support.

Friendly Reminders

Student Free Days / School Closure Update

The following days / dates have been endorsed by the Governing Council.

Student Free Days

  • Friday 6th June – before long weekend – Term 2 Week 6
  • Monday 21st July – Term 1 Week 1
  • One more day to be finalised – likely mid/late November

School Closure

  • Monday 1st September – Term 3 Week 7

Early Morning Arrival

Students are allowed to start arriving at school from 8:30am, unless attending OSHC. Students who are on the school grounds before 8.30am will be directed to the front office as teachers are not on duty prior to this time. The school siren sounds at 8.50am indicating all students need to be in their classrooms ready to start the day.

Student Information Details

It is important that we have up to date student information including current contact details for all families – home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, shared care arrangements and any other relevant information for our school records.

This information is particularly important for our Year 6 cohort where address details are required for secondary school transition.

If you have changed any of your contact details or are unsure of the details we have on our database, please contact us by phone 82704144 or email dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au

Any change of address details requires proof in writing.

During the year, if you have any changes to your contact details, please communicate these to us asap.

Staff Car Park, The Drop Off and Pick Up Zones and Local Traffic

A friendly reminder that the staff car park is for staff only and for families displaying a ‘disability parking permit’.

Keeping all children safe is our priority, so please do not use the staff car park to drop or collect children, unless pre-arranged with the front office.

The Drop Off and Pick Up Zones (Murrays Hill Rd and Heath Lane) display signage informing motorists that parking in the Zones are restricted to 2 minutes from 3.00 to 3.30pm. These traffic controls, put in place by the City of Onkaparinga are designed to support traffic flow and minimise traffic congestion on Murrays Hill Rd prior to school dismissal.

Traffic rangers visit schools (mostly without notice) to monitor these zones, and will issue infringement notices when appropriate. Parents and friends who arrive early for pick up are encouraged to find suitable off-street parking and arrange a location to safely meet their child/ren.
