Sapsasa Term 2

A busy start to Term 2 with many Sapsasa events including day carnivals, state and district trials and championship events. Many successes to celebrate as a school.

Sapsasa Netball Day Carnival

On Tuesday 6th May Craigburn entered a girls team in the Statewide Schools Netball competition which was a whole day netball carnival at Netball SA Stadium. The girls, Dinu, Piper, Haddie, Ayla, Annika, Shayla, Eliza, Chloe and Alice played 5 games throughout the day coming away with 1 win, 2 ties and 2 loses. Thank you to Sports College SA students Grace and Emily, doing work placement at Craigburn  for coaching, parents Melissa and Emma for transporting the girls, Mark Lemmey for supervising the team and parents who supported throughout the day.

Team’s Mountain Bike Championship

On Friday 9th May 6 Craigburn students competed in the School Sport SA Team’s Mountain Bike Championship at Blackwood Park. From 100 Year 5/6 boys teams entered, Craigburn’s two teams finished 20th and 26th.  Jackson W and Jamison J completed 10 laps in the two hour time limit finishing in 20th position with Riley E, Riley D and Jake W finishing in 26th also with 10 laps completed. A big thank you to Bane B who was unable to ride but was the best team manager making sure the team had plenty of refreshments in breaks and bikes ready to go. The boys are to be congratulated for their perseverance and team support of each other. Thank you to parents for supporting and assisting during the day.

School Sport SA State Representative

Another huge achievement to James K making the 12 and Under State Swimming team for the second year in a row. James will compete at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championship in Ballarat in October representing South Australia.

Southern Heights District Football Representatives

Congratulations to Riley E and Jake W who have been selected to represent Southern Heights at the School Sport Football Carnival in Week 5. The boys trialled for this over several weeks to gain section into the team.

Sapsasa Cross Country

Good luck to the 47 students competing in the Cross County event at Belair National Park this Tuesday 13th May.

Sapsasa Soccer

Trials will be held in the coming weeks to select a boys soccer team to compete at the Sapsasa Soccer Day Carnival on 12th June at West Beach. Trials will be held during school time with details posted to the student notices.
