The Weekly Wrap 2025 – Term 2 Week 3 – 2025

Thank You for Joining Our Mother’s Day Breakfast

A big thank you to all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and special people who joined us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast. We appreciate you taking the time to celebrate with us, and we hope you enjoyed a very special day on Sunday. We would also like to extend our thanks to all the parents who helped out at our Mother’s Day stall last Wednesday. Your time and effort made all the difference in helping students find a special gift for their mums and special people.

Acknowledging Our SAPSASA Stars and Wishing Cross Country Runners the Best!

A huge congratulations to all our students who have been participating in SAPSASA events this year—you’ve represented our school with pride and determination. Please check out the latest update here.

A special shout-out to those heading to the Cross Country at Belair this Tuesday—we wish you all the very best. Run strong, support each other, and enjoy the experience.

National Simultaneous Storytime & Recipe Sharing!

We are looking forward to the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 21st May, as we celebrate this year’s book, The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and Adelaide-based illustrator Danny Snell. This beautiful story explores themes of belonging and connection—often found in the warmth of family recipes.

Our library educators, Krysten & Emily, are inviting families to share a favourite recipe from home (as inspired by the book). These recipes will be compiled into a special library book, available for borrowing and purchase, with proceeds supporting the Australian Refugee Association.

For details on how to contribute, read the full post here. We look forward to seeing your delicious creations!

A reminder too, save the date for our upcoming Book Fair in early June.

80’s Music Bingo

The Friends of Craigburn team have been busy again behind the scenes organising a Music Bingo night for Saturday 14th June. Details here.

Netball Stars

On Saturday morning, our 6 netball teams took to the courts and played round 1 of the netball season. There were a few nervous moments, but overall, there were lots of smiles, laughs and delicious oranges eaten. Our coaches have shared a little something about their first games

Year 2

The Year 2’s debuted in their first ever netball game on Saturday at Coromandel Valley.  It was exciting to watch, after just 2 training sessions, how much skill and understanding they had picked up from the game and how enthusiastically they played. A very close game being defeated 5 to 6. Looking forward to seeing them flourish through the season.

Coach – Tammy Manna

Year 2/3

What a huge first game for seven of our netballers! It’s never easy to lose, but from the first quarter to the last, the improvement was incredible. A big shout-out to our four second-season girls who really stepped up and showed fantastic leadership on court. With a few more weeks of experience, I can’t wait to see what this team can achieve.

Coach – Sara Keating

Year 3/4

The team played an incredible first game. They took ownership of their position’s and worked hard to gain possession of the ball. Their defensive work was impressive to watch with the team getting some awesome intercepts. The team used some good strategies in getting the ball to our end and scoring some points. A big congratulations to Zoe on her first game of netball and a congratulations to all the team on a great start to the season.

Coach – Kim Altschwager

Year 5

Massive congrats to the Yr 5 girls – who kicked off the season strong! Shout out to Georgia, Ivy, Marley and Simran who all did so well for their very first game. Such a daunting thing to jump onto the court when you don’t know the rules or positions – they showed amazing bravery and courage. And to Chloe, Isla, Paakhi, and Millie – well done supporting your new teammates and helping them grow their confidence on court.

Coach – Mathilda Grist

Year 5/6

The Year 5/6 Navy Netball team showed great determination and teamwork in their first game of the season, despite a 12-4 loss. The team started strong, keeping the score close throughout the first three quarters with enthusiasm and support for one another. Their efforts on court demonstrated excellent potential, as they held their own against tough opposition for most of the match. Although the final quarter saw the other team pull ahead, the Navy team can be proud of their performance and the positive attitude they maintained throughout the game. Go girls!

Coach – Merissa Wilton

Year 6

What a fantastic start to the netball season! The Year 6 girls netball team came away with a 17 v 11 win against Highgate. I would like to thank Mel Tolcher for her assistance in coaching the girls during their first game in my absence.

Coach – Annika Reinke

We are all looking forward to the rest of the season and the teams learning some new skills!

Our School Mural Is Coming to Life!

Our mural is taking shape on the back of the gym wall overlooking the school oval – great to have our Year 5/6s adding a splash of paint / colour. It looks even better in real life – come and take a look.
