Meet Our Social Work Student

Hi everyone!  I’m Alanah, a Social Work student from Charles Darwin University.

I’ll be completing my placement at Craigburn Primary School throughout Term 2 and Term 3 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as part of my final student placement

You might be wondering what is Social Work? Social Work is all about helping people to feel safe, supported and understood. Social Workers work alongside individuals, families, and communities to overcome challenges, strengthen relationships, and improve wellbeing, whether those challenges are happening at home, at school, or in the wider community.

During my time at the school, I’ll be running Friendology small group sessions, where students can build confidence, talk about friendship challenges, and learn ways to manage big feelings in social situations. I will also be working one-on-one with students who might be feeling overwhelmed, having a tricky time at school or home, or just need someone to check in with.

As a social work student, I am here to support students by listening, building trust, and helping them to feel more confident in themselves and their relationships.

I’m really excited to be part of the school community and to get to know students, families, and staff. If you see me around, please feel free to say hello, I’d love to meet you!
