The Weekly Wrap – Term 2 Week 8 – 2025

We hope everyone enjoyed some quality family time over the long weekend. Thank you for taking the time to read through the items in this week’s wrap.

Thank You for an Amazing 80’s Music Bingo Night!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made our 80’s-themed Music Bingo Night such a fantastic evening! The fun, laughter, and energy were absolutely infectious — it was wonderful to see so many great 8os themed outfits.

A special shoutout to the Friends of Craigburn for their incredible work organising this event and for gathering the generous donations that helped make the night extra special — from the fabulous prizes to our ever-popular Wine Wall.

Your support and community spirit made the night a memorable success.

Stay tuned for more events and opportunities to get involved with the Friends of Craigburn.

Pedal Prix Update – A Great Experience for Our Year 6 Team

Our Year 6 Pedal Prix team had an incredible day participating in their race event this week. Reports from staff and families who attended spoke of the students’ enthusiasm, teamwork and growing confidence as they took on the challenges of the track.

The team worked together seamlessly — helping each other in and out of the vehicle, managing pit changes, and even taking the lead with “Last Lap” signals out on the course. It was a great example of student leadership, collaboration and resilience in action.

With so many schools involved, it’s clear that Pedal Prix is a valuable opportunity not only for skill development but also for building school and community spirit.

A big thank you to Mr Tristan Fergusson for his outstanding work in preparing and supporting the team, and to the families who helped with preparing the vehicle and the team and those came along to help and cheer. Well done to all students involved — a terrific team effort!

Reminder – OSHC Temporary Relocation Gym / Hall Floor Replacement

Our OSHC service will be temporarily relocated to classrooms A4–A7, whilst the gym flooring replacement is underway, beginning Monday 16 June. We appreciate your understanding and support during this period of improvement.

Weekend Netball Results

Year 2

The Craigburn Year 2s had a thrilling game against a formidable opponent Mitcham Gold, a team who had already played a season together. With a slow start, we gained great momentum and can be proud of our efforts and improving skills. We held our heads high despite the 12 to 8 defeat.

Year 2/3

The Year 2/3 team had a fantastic game, coming away with a 7–1 win against Blackwood. The girls showed excellent defence, putting into action the skills we’ve been working on at training. There was also great leading and teamwork throughout the game. A strong all-round performance—well done to everyone!

Year 3/4

Our year 3/4 team had a very competitive match against Eden Hills at home. Despite their best efforts, they went down 16-6 in their first loss of the season. The girls had some fantastic intercepts and worked well in all areas on the court. The girls implemented their different passing techniques which we worked on during training. I am incredibly proud of their determination through the whole game. Keep up the great work!

Year 5

The Year 5s faced a tight contest against Colonel Light Gardens after a late court change – going down 7-4. The team really came together, showing fantastic teamwork and cheering each other on every step of the way. There was plenty to celebrate, with some brilliant intercepts, strong defence and lots of great play across the court. It was a great opportunity to face a well-matched team and for the girls to put their improving core skills into action. Well done, everyone!

Year 5/6

The Year 5/7s had a 4–2 win against Aberfoyle Campus in a closer game this week. Played in cool, windy conditions, the team showed growing confidence, especially through strong play in the centre court, having to use smarter positioning against a taller side. It was great to see the players beginning to put into action what they’ve been practising, with on-court decisions making all the difference. Keep it up girls

Year 6

It was a blistering start to the morning for our Year 6 girls in Belair this week. Unfortunately, it didn’t help us, with a 20 – 6 defeat to Eden Hills PS. They showed great teamwork, strong grit, and determination during a challenging game and court conditions. We are looking forward to next week!

Friendly Reminders

ICAS Assessments

We encourage families to consider having their child participate in the ICAS Assessments for 2025. These optional, skills-based assessments provide students in Years 2–6 with a valuable opportunity to challenge themselves and showcase their abilities in subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, and Spelling. ICAS is a great way to celebrate academic achievement and build confidence in a supportive environment. To learn more or register, please visit our recent post here.

Canteen Lunch Orders – Absentee Reminder

If your child is unwell and won’t be attending school, please notify the office if you have placed a lunch order for that day. We’re happy to help – if we’re informed on the day, your child’s lunch order can be held over and used on another suitable day. However, if no notification is received, the canteen is not automatically aware of your child’s absence. The order will be prepared, and unfortunately, cannot be carried over to another day as the meal will already have been made and stock used. We appreciate your support in helping us reduce food waste and manage canteen resources effectively. Thank you! The Canteen Team
