This term, our Student Representative Council (SRC) led one of the biggest whole-school initiatives of 2025 – the Term 2 Direct Collect Recycling Challenge – and what a success it was!
Over 10 weeks, students collected recyclable containers to help the environment and raise funds for our school. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students and families, we collected a huge total of 8,886 containers – that’s nearly $650 raised!
The competition was fierce – and full of excitement. Throughout the challenge, the leaderboard changed hands numerous times, keeping everyone on their toes.
Some highlights from the competition include:
-
A strong start from our Year 3/4 classes – Miss Sophie’s class (C17) and Miss Humphrys’ class (C15) – who led confidently in the early weeks.
-
A consistent and determined effort from Miss Drozdoff’s class (E23 – Year 1), who held the top spot for most of the challenge.
-
A surprise surge from Miss Crystal’s class (E24 – Year 1) in Week 9 that suddenly put them in serious contention – a momentum that continued through to Week 10.
-
And finally, an explosive finish from Miss Bremner’s class (E25 – Year 1), who collected a massive 2,624 containers in just one week, securing their place as overall champions!
Congratulations to Miss Bremner’s class (E25 – Year 1) – our Term 2 Champions with a grand total of 3,133 containers!
We also want to recognise our runners-up:
• Miss Crystal’s class (E24 – Year 1) – 1,797 containers
• Miss Drozdoff’s class (E23 – Year 1) – 932 containers
A special shout-out to our Year 1 cohort – E23, E24, and E25 – who together collected over 6,000 containers – nearly two-thirds of the total count! An incredible effort from some of our youngest recyclers.
To every student and class who participated – thank you! Whether you collected five containers or five hundred, you played a part in making this initiative a success. We raised valuable funds, reduced waste, and showed that small actions really can make a big impact.
A huge thank you to our amazing parent community for all your donations, encouragement, and ongoing support. We’re so lucky to have such a dedicated and generous school community behind us.
And we’re not stopping there…
After the success of this challenge, the SRC is excited to launch our Term 3 initiative – the Friendology Door Display Challenge. This new challenge will spread messages of kindness, inclusion, and friendship across our school – and just like recycling, every student will have the chance to make their mark.
Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
