One area of maths we have begun to look at this term is Location and Transformation. As year 1 students, we need to give and follow directions to familiar locations. Firstly, we brainstormed different way we can give directions – left, right, up, down, forwards, backwards, over, under. We have  been playing lots of games to practice using language for giving and receiving directions and have looked at coordinates. We have also looked at ways to move a location – step, jump, slide, flip, rotate, turn, etc.
