Marie Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1867
Marie Curie was a physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win the Nobel prize and the first person to win the Nobel prize twice and they were both in each category.
She was the first female professor at the university of Paris.
Marie founded the Curie Institutes in Paris and Warsaw.
She developed the theory of radioactivity, and made the worlds first studies on how to treatment of neoplasms (tumours) using radioactive isotopes.
Marie discovered two elements which she named polonium and radium, and she also developed techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes.
