Neela,
Your story was truly inspiring in the way you overcame the hardships of fleeing from your country and not being truly safe anywhere. You made me realise how amazing my life is and how lucky I am to have a safe country to live in. The way you learnt English so fast and so well by working hard makes me feel stronger about my work. You are so brave for coming here and telling us your story, knowing that the nightmares will never truly stop. For that, I say thankyou.
Dear Neela,
You are an incredibly inspiring person.
You must have a lot of courage in you, especially being able to tell us your life story.
Thank you for coming to our school.

My favourite parts were the boat ride to Australia and the part when you told us about the
Bunkers?
I would like to thank you for your bravery. During your telling of the story you stayed very bubbly and cheerful. The bravery during your journey was inspiring. How can someone have that much willpower? Knowing every night, your mother cried. Your fast learning of our language amazes me, too. Thank you for speaking out, and inspiring all of us. Thank you for your bravery and courage. Thank you for your kindness. You deserved the award you got.
Hope all of your family stays well.

Dear Neela,
Thank you for coming into our school unit to talk about your tough experiences that you have had in your lifetime. I think that you are a very brave person because of the war and the bullying that had been happening to you while you were younger. I especially liked when you talked about what you did when the war was happening because I had wanted to find out what people have to do to survive when something that big happens to you. You definitely gave us a good idea of what used to happen to people that were near the war. Thank you Neela for helping us.

Dear Neela,
Thank you, Neela, for coming to our school and I enjoyed listening to your story about the Sri Lankan civil war and how you escaped it. I found it interesting how the war made you the person you are today.

Dear Neela,?
You may not realise it, but you are extremely inspiring and such an idol to me. To me, I have a very great life and a very happy life. To hear for someone else’s perspective what life was like for them really hit home. It didn’t make me sad or hate the world, it just made me more aware of the world and what it’s like for others. To know that you experienced those things just made me aspire to react to life the way you did. You’re such a polite person and you deserve the respect of millions. Thank you ever so for coming to our school and sharing some personal things and helping us imagine what it would be like to live in the war and somewhere like Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for coming to our immigration panel and one on one talk with you, we really appreciate it!
Your story really inspired me and taught me that, no matter what life throws at you, you can always find a rainbow at the end of the storm.
It’s really disappointing that you didn’t get more support from your community when you first arrived but, now that you’re here, hopefully the world can patch up some of its mistakes that it makes!
You are such a wonderful addition to our community, I only partially know what it’s like to immigrate from a different country, just not as a refugee, so I can relate to some of your stresses coming over.
