Mr Luke has just repainted the sprint track in readiness for Sports Day. The length of the main sprint track is 100 metres. There are 8 lanes in total. If you ran up and down each lane, how far would you have run?
Mr. Luke. We are maths stars! In room 4 we think that if you ran up and down each lane you would run 1,600 metres altogether. We would be very puffed out!
From Room 4.
Hi Mr Luke – we worked out that you would run 1,600 metres too! You would have to be very fit to run that far. Did you know that 1,600 metres is the same as 1 kilometre and 600 meters? You walked a long way when you were marking the lanes!
From Room 3

We worked the distance out to be 1.6 Km.
We like it when you set us some challenges Mr Luke!
