The Year 1’s learnt about colour theory and warm/cool colours. We focused on the Canadian Artist Ted Harrison and then made their own paintings inspired by his work. The students used warm colours for the sunset and cool colours for the water and hills.

The receptions read the story ‘The Cat and the Bird’ inspired by the artist Paul Klee. They were inspired to then paint the buildings in the book. We talked about the shapes that were used to make the buildings and windows. Texta was used to colour the buildings and smaller objects in, then they painted the sky and grass.
What detail the students put into their buildings. WOW!!!!!!!!

The students learnt about the artist Claude Monet and read the story ‘Katie and the Waterlily pond’ by James Mayhew. We talked about how Claude Monet uses warm and cool colours in his artwork.
Each class then helped to paint a collaborative water pond background, then each student made their own lily to go on top of the water.
What an amazing team effort! They look beautiful 🙂

Last term the students in Yr 7 learnt about the Japanese paper cutting art form called ‘Notan Art’. Many students across the year levels had a go at making their own, by cutting out shapes (positive and negative shapes) from paper.

The Year 3/4 students (Semester 1) learnt about 3D sculptures and created their own paper sculptures, with art work inspired by Romero Britto. They explored line, shape & colour and experimented with turning a 2D piece of art into a 3D artwork, by cutting and folding the paper.
These turned out amazing!!!!
The Year 5/6 students learnt about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. The students explored the element of shape (organic and geometric) and colour (practising blending the oil pastels). These are some of their Kandinsky inspired A3 artworks.

The year ones learnt about the artist Henri Matisse and how he invented the art of paper cut collage. The students drew organic shapes and cut them out and glued them down, to create their own Henri Matisse inspired art.

The reception students learnt about the Artist Frederich Hundertwasser and his environmental, dream-like colourful artwork. The students used collage and line-work to create these wonderful pieces of art.
