Welcome to Visual Arts 2021

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Visual Arts blog page at Craigburn Primary School for 2021.

Throughout this year the several classes that I have Visual Arts with will have their work posted on this blog under individual year levels and on the shared student artwork folder. Any other school artwork that comes up throughout the year will also be published and shared.

Keep posted for the latest student artwork!

I look forward to sharing the exciting and talented work by the students at Craigburn Primary School.

Many Thanks

Hello Everyone,

What an interesting year we have had so far!

I want to share some amazing, inspiring artwork that the students have been creating so far this year.

Please look in the ‘Student Work’ folder or specific year level to see the wonderful and colourful talents of Craigburn Primary School students. I am delighted with the artistic talent we have at Craigburn Primary School.

I’m looking forward to uploading future art from the students.

Collage & Zentangle Faces (week2)

Activity: create your own Collage & Zentangle picture.

Elements of Art: line, shape

Principles of Art: emphasis, rhythm, contrast

Materials: magazine or a enlarged colour photo of yourself, glue stick, black thin sharpie or marker, A4 white paper

Step 1. Cut out a large face (only the face) or print out a large coloured picture of your face (maybe school photo)

Step 2. Glue face onto blank white A4 paper near middle of page (think of the placement of your face)

Step 3. Draw up some larger lines to break up the background into sections (look closer at the examples above if unsure)

Step 4. Fill in the sections using various lines/patterns (refer to the zentangle designs provided for ideas or create your own).

Step 5. Once you have completed your detailed face design take a photo of it on Seesaw and upload it into the Visual Arts folder.

I’m looking forward to some interesting pictures.

Have fun 🙂

Uploading art work on Seesaw.

Hello everyone,

If you have created some wonderful art of your own at home or you have completed the tasks set, please use Seesaw to save an image of your work.

*Take a photo of your finished work using the Seesaw program. Then save it in the Visual Arts folder that your teacher has created.

I am looking forward to seeing your creative art work!

Many Thanks

Notan Art – Japanese Art yr 5/6

Activity 1: Notan Art – Japanese art.

Elements of Art: shape

Principle of Art: contrast, balance

You will learn how to make a Notan piece of art and about how shape, contrast and balance work together.

Please look at the elements and principles posters of art under ‘Learning Resources’, so you understand what they are. #Remember darker coloured paper (black, red, dark blue) work the best for creating strong contrast, between the positive & negative shapes.

Materials needed: A4 white paper, dark coloured square paper (13x13cm or 14x14cm), lead pencil, scissors, glue stick.

Place your Notan square paper on the diagonal.

Here is my example of a Notan design you can refer to when making your own. See if you can make a triple cut out design with your shapes. Please create your own designs.

  1. Read through this slide first.
  2. Watch this Youtube video on how to make your Notan artwork.

Have fun making your detailed Notan Artwork 🙂
