Blackwood War Memorial

Many of us attended the Dawn Service at Blackwood on Anzac Day to pay our respects and celebrate the spirit of the Anzacs. This year was a special year as it marked the 100 year anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli and the birth of the Anzac legend. Do you have any relations that fought for Australia in any of the conflicts? If you do, let us know their story by posting a comment.

We look forward to reading about your connections to the Anzacs.

  1. My great great great uncle Clarence Marshall went to WW1 for the last two years of it. He came back to australia and won 3 medals and decided to retire. Then WW2 came up and he decided to train and go fight again, he went with his best friend, they were there for 6 months. Then he was going to save an Australian person when he got shot in the back by a machine gun. He won another medal for a heroic act of saving lives.

  2. I got the names of the medals he got they were, loosing their life to save another, acts of bravery in the line of fire, acts of leadership when the captain is down and never giving up on fellow mates.
